January 2009 - Happy Belated New Year!

Wow, it has been over a month since I have blogged here. It appears that Happy New Year wishes are in order. Wow! This past month+ has been quite busy and since I have been updating a few other sites as well I guess I just lost track that this one site idle for that period of time! Apologies to any of you wonderful folks - family, friends, or welcome visitors - that have been stopping by and wondering what the heck happened!!!

I have been working diligently on strength training and, specifically, reducing body fat. In a six week period from Thanksgiving to the beginning of Jan, I was able to reduce my body fat by over 3%. It is continuing to trend down (yes, I am keeping track of it on a trend chart) so I am very thrilled with the results. Still have much to do, but every day is new day!

I have also started taking some supplements as a result of reading a book called, "From Belly Fat to Belly Flat". Many of them I really should have been taking all along - DIM (improve estrogen metabolism), Calcium-D Glucarate (promotes detoxification process and supports hormonal balance), and B-Complex Vitamins to name a few. That's it for now...don't want to over-do it right out of the box!

Halloween Dinner - October 25, 2008

This was a scream! A Halloween wine-tasting and dinner at La Grange Winery - what a fun time. The chef was fabulous and was able to accomodate my raw food menu - how divine!

Father's Day 2008!

A big shout out to my dad, and all the wonderful dads, for Father's Day! You are great and I just want to say thanks. The first thing that comes to mind is that my dad taught me to always look for the good in people, even when they may not deserve it - thanks!

St. Patrick's Day Wishes and Otherwise

Happy (early) St. Patty's Day!

Waking (late) on this glorious Sunday morning! My smoothie this morning was fresh young coconut water (right from the shell), 2 fresh organic mangoes, frozen organic strawberries and raspberries, 4 Tbs hemp protein powder, whole vanilla bean, and an organic banana! Yum, keeps me going for hours! Lunch was a superb kale salad with red peppers and pine nuts doused in lemon, olive oil, and sea salt (left over from the annual St Patty's Day party last night!) - yummy!

Yesterday was my "official" one year anniversary. I meant to get up to the jewelers and get a a new Pandora Charm for myself, but time got away from me...perhaps tomorrow!

Here's to another exceptionally green St. Patrick's Day to all!

Merry Christmas to ALL!!

The Campbell's enjoy a great afternoon at Reston Towne Center!

Which included a nice dinner at M&S Grille - all veggies for mommy, of course!

Daddy and Riley get some hugs in too!

We had a very nice day - we opened gifts, took photos, laughed, played games, went to Mass, and found a great place to hang out for a bit and enjoy each other's company. It was really what this day is all about. God Bless.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

As an 8 month survivor, I give thanks to all the wonderful people who have touched my life this year and I give hope to all who may follow me in this breast cancer maze. May you always look up, smile and continue with your walk of life.

I hope everyone's Memorial Day was fun and relaxing. We had a great long weekend and Jack did so much outside (pressure clean deck, etc). We are really looking forward to the landscaping being put in this week. We also bought rocks to go around Riley's sandbox and some new plants for the hanging baskets in the back. It was relaxing and so much fun to see how much Riley enjoys his cool spot.

I go to the oncologist this week for more test results. The onc appointments are the only ones I absolutely dread. The plastic surgeon visits are the silver lining, the oncologist visits are the dark cloud.
